Colectivo29. Tango nuevo, a quintet.

Australian composed, arranged and re-imagined Tango. A project created by Andrew James to explore a long-term connection to the rich textures and harmonic relationships in tango music. Colectivo29 play tangos written by Australian composers and their own arrangements of the music of leading figures Osvaldo Pugliese and Horacio Salgán, among others.

Colectivo29 explore the relationship between tango music structures and urban morphology, social infrastructure, and urban music form as a reflection of  equity in society.

Their 2012 album, recorded live at Paris Cat Jazz Club in Melbourne, was released to a warm critical reception around Australia.
